The goals of the national project Digital Resources – Web harvesting and E-Born Content Archiving (DIR) are acquisition, processing, trusted storing and making available the original Slovak digital resources: web pages, e-books and e-serials. We focus on documents that are a fragile and threatened part of the immaterial cultural heritage due to their intangible nature.

What does web archiving mean?
Internet pages constantly occur, change and also frequently dissolve.
DIR are focused on harvesting and storing web resources that are integral part of cultural heritage of Slovak republic. The objective of DIR are web resources of slovacical character with sighnificative scientific, historical and cultural value. Web archiving takes place in accordance with current DIR WWW Collection Policy.
Archived versions of websites are thanks to our archive available even after they have been changed or disappeared.
Web archiving is taken place via harvests in the form of campaigns that are divided into full-domain, event-based and selective.
Based on Publication Act, we regularly archive pages of Slovak news portals.
Currently, there are publicly available more than 400 websites.

E-Born publications archive
E-born (born-digital) is documentary content – publications (monographs and serials), that were created solely in electronic format. They don´t have printed equivalent.
Except of classic formats of electronic books and magazines (PDF, ePub), they can also have form of updated website with ISSN identificator.
